‘The Hours’ is a place, to relax with good food and a good read; to meet friends and family, or to peruse an eclectic selection of books. We wanted to create the kind of place we’d like to stumble across if we were meandering around a Welsh Market town ourselves. In this beautiful listed building you’ll find flagstone floors, wooden beams, and rustic furniture that provide the perfect spot to spend an hour or two.
Somewhere as comfortable as your own living room; a place that is welcoming, peaceful and snug, somewhere to sit and… wile away the hours.
We hope we’ve succeeded.
These are certainly interesting times for our High Streets and Town Centres. More than ever businesses are under increased pressure to diversify to draw both locals and visitors back into towns and onto the High Street before they are both truly gone forever.
While we are a Cafe & Bookshop we consider oursleves to be much more than just a shop: We are a meeting place, a haven, and a cultural hub. We host Poetry Readings and Author Events, Book Groups, Supper Clubs, Music Nights and are host venues for Brecon Women’s Festival, Brecon Fringe Festival and Brecon Arts Week and ‘Plethiad’. Our quirky second floor is a bespoke gallery space where Artists can show their work and also houses a selection of used books. We can also provide a unique venue for meetings, celebrations and all other manner of get-togethers.
We are truly committed to playing our part in the unique and constantly evolving cultural scene in Brecon and see our wonderful wonky green shop as the starting point for many more exciting adventures to come. So come on in, say hello a very warm welcome awaits in this delightful market town in the very heart of the Welsh countryside in the beautiful Brecon Beacons.
