Exhibitions, Artist Demonstrations, Open Houses, Storytelling, Live Music, Children’s Workshops, Mask making, Pottery, Glassmaking, Drawing, Craft, an Art Fair and much more await you in Brecon this Autumn.
‘Brecon Arts Festival 2013’ is a month-long celebration of the Arts with events taking place in and around the town throughout October (1st-31st) with the aim of showcasing the very best in the Arts that Brecon has to offer.
The festival is conceived by ‘Artbeat Brecon’ – a group of Brecon based businesses and artists working together to positively promote the galleries, cultural enterprises and Artists and Craftspeople within the town, and each Autumn they come together to deliver an annual Arts Festival which is now in it’s fourth year.
We are thrilled to be putting on this our fourth Brecon Arts Festival. A whole host of eminent artists, craftspeople and musicians call this beautiful market town home and with it’s own Theatre, Cinema, Cathedral, Independent Bookshop and streets of independently owned shops and boutiques housed in historic buildings, Brecon is rapidly becoming a great focal point for the creative arts in Mid Wales – a real cultural hub.
The Hours Cafe & Bookshop is a flagship Festival venue and we have a very eclectic programme on this year, with something to appeal to everyone. Here at The Hours you can celebrate National Poetry Day, enjoy drawing classes, storytelling, and hear Francesca Rhydderch talking about her first novel ‘The Rice Paper Diaries’.
Elsewhere in town you can try your hand at stone-cutting, felt-making and stained glasswork, follow the Baaah Sheep Trail around town or take a coach out to the beautiful Penpont Estate and see their amazing outdoor production of ‘Tempest on Fire’ a fire theatre spectacle.
There is no better time of year to explore Wales than on a crisp Autumn day, so we urge people to come along, say hello and take it all in. A very warm welcome awaits in Brecon, a town for all seasons.
All events taking place at The Hours can be found on our events page and by downloading the Festival Programme here:
