Brecon Women’s Festival 2015

Brecon Women's Festival 2015This Wednesday March 4th at 6pm sees the launch of this year’s ‘Brecon Women’s Festival’. We are thrilled to have the very lovely and hugely talented Joanna van Kampen with us to launch this year’s Festival. An actress and mother who lives in Brecon, Joanna has worked with the RSC and National Theatre among others and is currently best known for playing Fallon in The Archers. Yes, that’s right, Ambridge is coming to Brecon this Spring…

Now in it’s fourth year, Brecon Women’s Festival marks International Women’s Day on March 8th, by celebrating the talents, creativity and achievements of women in Brecon past and present and now heralds the start of Spring in this bustling market town as the little cream, pink and green programme with it’s iconic pink tulip logo makes an appearance in venues shops and businesses across town. This year’s festival is bigger and better than ever having extended from one week to three, with an eclectic offering of events that will appeal to everyone. You can look forward to Art, Poetry, Crafts, Talks, Music, Workshops and the annual Festival Art Show which this year takes place at The Muse on Glamorgan Street and will be opened on Friday March 6th at 6pm by Theresa Stabb of The Welsh Academy of Art. Contrary to popular legend, men are of course heartily welcome at all festival events.

Festival programmes are available across town now. You can view the full line-up on the Brecon Women’s Festival website or see specific events taking place here at The Hours.

So we do hope you will come along this Wednesday at 6pm for wine, laughter and general bonhomie to celebrate Women and indeed the start of Spring!
